We have an automatic step on our rig. When you open the door the step extends and when you close the door it retracts. There is a wall switch which when turned on leaves the step extended as long as the engine is not running (this is the “last out” mode). Well one day the last out feature failed to work, no matter what, the step would retract when the door was closed.
We replaced the stock Magnetek 6300Q series converter guts with the Parallax 7345. It was like replacing an old vacuum tube radio with a solid state unit; what a change!
While Lazy Daze installs a flip-up counter extension, we never used it much. We missed having a decent-sized cutting board that didn’t have to be pulled out of a storage cabinet. It was also a challenge prepping food to be cooked, because there wasn’t any counter space for a cutting board when the stove was in use. The flip-up extension didn’t provide a flat surface to put the cutting board on because of the subtle lip around it.
One is always looking for more storage areas in your RV as well as using the areas that you do have more efficiently. Below are some pictures of what we have done.
We installed MaxxAir vent covers which allow you drive with your vents open plus stay in bed when your vents are open and it begins to rain. Overall we went with the following covers:
We were never really excited about the stock floor - it was dark and the seams between the individual 12” linoleoum tiles were a pain to clean.
We replaced the faucets in the kitchen and the bath with much improved models. The things we disliked about the old ones:
After getting our tow bar and brake system installed, we found that the toad lights were very dim, both the brake and turn lights. We spent several days trying various options to get this to work until victory was ours. Our “fun” on this project was enhanced by knowing we had a big vacation planned just a few days away.
