Today’s the first official open day for the campground. We hear there are a couple of RVs expected to arrive for the weekend. The folks don’t actually have their first work day until Sunday, so the plan is to do a little landscaping around our site today. They bought some flowers at a local nursery yesterday and also bought something called “Earth boxes” to plant tomatoes and herbs for Mom to cook with.
One of the ultimate comfort food casseroles! This is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. If you really like the crunchy topping, go ahead and add more Panko to suit.
Not for us (because you know when you are as well behaved as us you don’t need any stinkin’ training), but for the folks, who have to learn all sorts of new things.
2 (3 pound) tri-tip roasts, Basting Sauce, Seasoning Salt Mixture.
These tiny light-red beans are grown only in the Santa Maria Valley, as far as anyone knows. They create their own rich sauce when cooked long and slow.
We arrived at our Maine (get it?) destination this week - the Augusta/Gardiner KOA. The folks are doing something called “workcamping” here this year. We aren’t sure what that is except they’ve been playing with leaves and branches for a few hours each day, and they came back with yellow polo shirts today, its the same shade of yellow that Blue put on Uncle John’s sock and shoe.
The day before yesterday we got to visit the folks’ friends, John and Linda, in northern Virginia. We had to stay in the coach (something about us “exploring” where we shouldn’t) so we didn’t get to bounce on their furniture, but the folks had a great time catching up with their friends.
